Community policing is best demonstrated by citizens volunteering their
time in an effort to make our streets safer for all of us. For years
volunteer reserve police officers have contributed their time and efforts
to the citizens of Jacksonville.
These unsung heroes work long hours with potential risks to themselves
because of their dedication to our community. In 2001 approximately
120 Reserve Officers donated almost 32,000 hours. Today's current
crop of graduates go through over 10 months of training before taking
on the responsibility of being a reservist.
Anytime you see an officer with the patch above on the their uniform,
take a moment to say hello and recognize the contribution they make
to the safety of you and your family.
